Renowned Zanu-PF praise singer and supporter of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Chief Hwenje, has spoken publicly for the first time since receiving medical treatment in India after he was diagnosed with blood cancer.
The 37-year-old musician made his first public appearance last Thursday at Mkandapi Business Centre in Shurugwi, where President Mnangagwa commissioned the resurfaced 43-kilometre Shurugwi-Mhandamabwe Road. Chief Hwenje’s energetic performance and lively dances captivated the crowd, making it hard to believe he had recently undergone a medical procedure.
Chief Hwenje revealed that he was diagnosed with lymphoma, a type of blood cancer that impacts the lymphatic and immune systems.
Speaking to The Herald on the sidelines of the event, Chief Hwenje expressed heartfelt gratitude to President Mnangagwa and his family for facilitating his trip to India and offering support during his treatment. He said:
